Five years' separation (2)

If your spouse petitions for divorce based on five years' separation, you can ask the court not to grant a divorce on the grounds that "...the dissolution of the marriage will result in grave financial or other hardship to [you] and that it would in all the circumstances be wrong to dissolve the marriage". This defence is not available for any other kind of divorce - only when the divorce is based on five years' separation.
