Financial disclosure
I was asked recently to comment on a financial divorce settlement that a client had agreed with her husband. I advised her that it was just possible that the deal was acceptable from her point of view but that I doubted it. My main point was that I could not properly advise my client because there had not been full financial disclosure. In my email I said I was always emphasising the importance of getting full financial disclosure and I included a link to various short articles I had posted on my website. It is a problem that keeps cropping up. It is understandable to want to get your divorce over quickly and amicably, but if you skip disclosure you risk making a massive financial mistake which could affect you for the rest of your life.
