Is it too easy to get divorced?

This is a subjective question, of course, and the only way you can answer it is to ask people what they think.  A poll conducted recently by ICM for law firm Pannone has some interesting results.  2,000 people, some of them divorced and some not, were asked questions about divorce.  Even among divorced people taking part in the survey a majority thought it was too easy to get divorced.

My own view is that most people don’t rush into divorce – they think about it for a long time before doing it.  When they first come to see a divorce solicitor like me, they have finally decided there is no alternative.

If there are no issues over money or property, and no issues over children, it can be very easy and quick to get divorced.  If there are such issues, the process can be exhausting, lengthy and expensive.

The survey is reported in this article in this morning’s Telegraph.
