Mediation vs a court battle – the same old misinformation trotted out yet again

This time it’s a Ministry of Justice press release, out today.  If you don’t do the sensible thing and go to mediation when you get divorced, you face a court battle.  Wrong wrong wrong.  Most disputes over finances or children are sorted out amicably by correspondence between specialist family law solicitors (like me – I declare my interest).  No court battle.  Sensible, arm’s-length negotiation.  No stressful face-to-face meetings.  Time to think.  Works well and needn’t cost a fortune.  Been working well for years.  Never gets a mention when mediation is being plugged as the answer to all your divorce problems.  Shame.
